When not behind the camera you can find Darren, when there’s time, on his road bike suffering up the climbs of Gatineau Park in order to get to the top and fly back down. However much of his true joy comes from his partner, Lisa and two-year-old daughter, Ella.

Photos of the Year – Daily Work

The end of the year is a great time to look back and see what you’ve managed, or in some cases, not managed to accomplish. As in most creative fields, photojournalism can be susceptible to a natural ebb and flow of inspiration, motivation and energy levels. Looking back on 2009 and my first full calendar year working as a staff photographer at the Ottawa Sun, I feel that overall things went well.
